Question Help me identify this bolt...

Hi everyone,

I am experiencing some loud rattling/squeaking coming from the top of the shock inside the passenger side rear strut brace location. After examining the shock assembly by looking through the wheel well, I noticed there was a nut missing (see attached images) or possibly sheared off, could this be the cause of the rattling and also if anyone has any insight on the bolt and or process to repair it, I would greatly appreciate it! It sounds like a metal on metal rattling/squeaking and is significantly loud, it happens whenever the car hits a bump in the road at all which seems as though the strut/shock could be loose? Any help here??

THANKS!!!

Looks bad, you could try to strip that portion of the interior and access it from the inside but my guess is that it will be welded on there.

umm, your going to have to cut up the rear strut bar and replace that bolt on that side-costly to repair.

Thanks guys I ended up taking it to my local nissan body shop and they said that the stud sheared off due to the nut being tightened too much. Also he sheared the second stud off while trying to remove the nut as well... so a word to the wise be careful torquing down those bolts shown in the pictures above. Anyhow the bodyshop fixed everything and a headlight wiring issue all for $300.00 I say bipass your local nissan dealer and go to the body shop where the actually can fix something thats wrong and dont charge you up the a$$ prior to them even puttng down the floor mat to pull it around back for ohh a couple of days....!!!

Sorry I appologize for that I get a little heated talking about stealerships. lol
