Default Loose Gas Cap and Limp Mode

Would a loose gas cap cause my Z to go into LIMP MODE? This happened yesterday, (car went into limp mode until I restarted it) and my Service Engine Soon light has remained on. I discovered a loose gas cap.

don't know where limp mode came from. .but it's usually cause by a bad throttle body or mass air flow meter .i get it all the time with the maxima's and altimas at my shop. .never had a Z come in with it. .but like the good old days i always had my guys clean out the throttle body plate when doin a tuneup or what not .. messed up one altima's TB by moving the plate with it still plugged in. .that messes up the sensing. .luckily had my buddy at the dealer reprogram it for me. .and worked fine..other then that so far i had to replace 2 TB's and about a dozen MAF's. .
