Believe it or not I was also told the same thing by the service manager at Bill Seidel Nissan in Miami, Fl: I'm on the fence on the same issue and get mixed advice from friends with Zs. So far I have not been using synthetic. I wonder if anyone can give a definitive answer?

Search through the Engine, Drivertrain... forum

https://my350z.com/forum/engine-and-drivetrain-50/

as this has been discussed many times. You'll find some people swear by synthetics, others absolutely avoid them. There's probably no single right or wrong answer.

More important than anything is regular oil changes. If you perform that simple task, that will help guarantee a long engine life.
