Default coolant mess

so i pop my hood today while getting some gas and to check the oil and i see a bunch of dried coolant sitting under the radiator cap.... the overflow tank hose isnt cracked or anything and there arent anycrack on the radiator itself....what do you think it is?? the cap? how much are they??

a cap is about 5 bucks.

When was the last time you checked the coolant level??

The Cap is a Check Valve---It opens when the predetermained pressure is exceeded and dumps coolant back in the resevoir. If it leaks, there is one reason... the rubber seal is trashed.

If the Spring is weak, it will still dump in the res, but at a lower pressure.

Step 1... replace the cap.

I can get into other probs, but, cross bridges as you get to them, and always start at Step 1.

good lookin out guys im goin to buy that cap today and start with "step 1" RIGHT ON!
