Default UTEC affecting NATS security system

Hey everyone.

The problem:

The little red light associated with the NATS security system on my 03 350z will not extinguish when I go to start the car and it wont allow me to start. Both sets of keys are unable to start and I have tried everything I could.

The question:

Could my UTEC be conflicting that that system?

I read about the UTEC having Map 7 as a security something and could that be it?

Whats going to happen when I call Nissan tomorrow and tell them my problem?

Also I dug this up....not sure if this has anything to do with it:

I would but think that would not be healthy for my turbo and the car. I guess i can unplug and replug them both in.

Your alarm system is controlled by the BCM next to the fuse panel. That is what tells the ecu not to start. It may be goig bad.

Ok for all those in the future who have this issue or something similar I am going to post my findings and solutions because I have gotten about 3 PMs concerning this same issue....

1 answer to a PM:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey man,

Ya I seem to be one of the most knowledgable people concerning the NATS securty system....for sure more then my local nissan dealer. Ill break it down to your possible suspects:

Theres the BCM (Body Control Module) which sits underneath the steering wheel that pretty much is the brains of the security system. On starting the keys send the code allowing the security system to disengage which you can confirm but the red light on the dash. If that light does not go out when you turn the key then the car will not start.

Your most likely scenario is that the viper alarm system somehow is triggering the NATS security system to not let the car start. Its sort of what happened to me. Guages that I had installed were ground into the NATS security system ground and somehow that messed up the system and it would throw out the codes after about 2 starts.

#1 thing to look at should be the viper alarm and how it is wired in. Make sure it is correct and it not triggering the NATS.

#2 possibility is keys lost codes but I doubt thats it....simple recode will prove this

#3 is the BCM is shot and you need a new one. You dont want that to be the problem unless you still got ur warrenty.

#4 The antenna associated with the BCM and the cars ECM to allow it to send the spark to start is busted.

#5 03' Nissan 350z do have a bulletin out for keys tossing the codes to if the key are messed up then make sure Nissan knows that.

Good luck. My car spent 3 weeks at Nissan until their stupid asses figured it out. I knew the issue and told them i wanted them to check out the grounds 1st but they went ahead and spent $500+ on an new BCM and other stuff at their expense. Losers lol. Lemme know what happeneds.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

More on my problem:

Alright was a ***** when I went through the immobilizer problem. I tried to look online to see what I could find about it and there isnt much so I am glad I can help out. So this was my deal.....

Had the turbonetics kit put in and gauges installed at Forged. Once everything was installed the immobilizer wouldnt let me start the car more then 2 times without dumping the codes to the keys and not starting again. The little red light on the dash would stay on.

Ultimate solution: The people at Forged messed up wiring in my gauges and put the gauge ground into the ground for the TADs security system and that caused the system to think something was wrong and not letting me start the car. So Nissan had to rewire the ground to another location and everything works fine now.
