Do synthetic manual transmission fluids really stop synchro grind?
I used to run Redline in my MR2 tranny, now I want to cure some early morning syncro grind in my virtually brand new 009 transmission so it lasts a long time.
AMSOIL says you can use their lube straight in the Z. While Redline some people mix different products, which doesn't sound as elegant, but hey, whatever cures those grinds and provides the best long term protection. Then there is Royal Purple, and many import owners swear by GM Syncromesh for really bad grinds.
What brands are you guys running?

IMO - no. When I switched to Royal Purple, I found that it shifts even harder then before, especially when cold.
A different fluid isn't going to change a true problem, it's only going to make it different. On some cars, it might feel better, on a few it will probably feel worse.

I have tried alot of concoctions from 100% honda fluid( due to me working at honda and knowing that it closely resembles 10-30 weight, thought the thiner fluid might help on the colder days which is when I have the most problems.) No success.
Honda fluid + Lucas 50/50- no success.
Nissan+ mostly lucas 30/70- no success.
Red line mt90 ( I belive it was mt90)- I have used the mt90 twice now and didnt like it the first time, but oddly enough I really like it now, seems like it has to absorb into the gears or something because it took about 2-3000 miles and wow it became substantially better.= The only one that have made any improvements that were noticeable but oddly took long to do so?
also from a friend in the honda community, the Amsoil was the only thing that stopped his tranny wows-temporarily.
another friend in the mr2 world has said that both syncromesh and redline have helped him.
hope that helps.

i've heard mixed reviews. Some say it helps, most say it doesn't. If your synchros are shot, it's just a matter of time before the gear doesn't work entirley. Switching fluids is just a "hold me over" at best and shouldn't be looked upon as a solution.
