Default how do i change my spark plugs?

So I change my oil all the time and clean the air filter. I'm not stupid, but I haven’t changed spark plugs since my 69 VW beetle. I'm looking for a play by play so i can get my confidence up. My father in law gave me the platinum plugs and now im on the hook. I'm talking about my 03 350Z Touring and it’s got 99,500 hard and fast miles on it. Drive it like you stole it.. I just had the timing belt changed out and the transmission flushed. Its due for plugs soon and my wifes dear old dad got wind so now he's testing me. I'm sure i have to take the sway bar off and the plastic housing. Where do I go from there? Can somebody help?

but you will have to remove the air intake on the right side of the engine. And if your hands aren't too big, you can get to all of the coil packs on the left side. Took me about 30 minutes. Make sure you have a spark plug socket.

If your not stupid then how did you change the timing belt if the Z doesn't have one?!?!?!?

You don't need to remove the swaybar as that is under the car. You need to remove the shock tower brace!

Leave it to the experts!

I was thinking the same thing. The Z doesn't have a timing belt. I hope the OP didn't pay someone to have his belt "changed". If you got charged, you got taken.

I just did my plugs couple weeks ago. You'll need a long ratchet extension to reach the plugs and some bolts. You don't need to remove the tower brace. Remove the intake box, tube and engine cover. Next, you'll see that the coils are hard to get to because of the wiring harness that goes around the plenum. The harness needs to be loosened to allow you enough room to get to the coils. So, go around the plenum and unbolt the brackets that hold the harness down so that you can semi-freely move the wiring around the coils. To not mix up the bolts from the brackets, once I loosened each bracket, I put the bolt back in the hole by itself and gave it a couple turns just to keep it in place so that when time comes to put it all back together, I'll know where each bolt belongs. There's a couple of brackets to move on the front and a few on the passenger side of the plenum. I think there was also one on the driver's side as well. The driver's side is easier as there's more room on that side. Once you have some play in the harness, for each plug: unbolt the coil, pull the coil off to the side, remove the spark plug, put new plug in, put the coil back on. Do this for all. Bolt the harness brackets back on to the plenum, put the cover back on, you're done.

BTW, don't bother with platinums. Copper is the way to go. You have to change them more often but they do produce the best and most consistent spark. If you're going to do it, do it right

Changing spark plugs is one of the easy tasks that you will take on the Z. Only took me about half hr to do mine.

Someones Cranky but maybe reason to be ......

Its pretty simple, put anti-seize on the threads and a smear of di-electric grease on the end of the plug boot

wrong the only nissans that use a serp belt are the qr2.5 and the vk series motors.

a serpetine belt is 1 belt used to drive ALL the accesories, the VQ has 2 belts which are called accessory belts. 1 for p/s, and 1 for alt and a/c.

Default New better plugs on the market..gotta try em!

Since I get three tuner mags I've read two different articles on the new
Pulstar plugs. Any time I can find something that's better for my VQ motor
I'm willing to give it a try. A set of six is $150 but from the dyno tests I've
seen it would be worth up to 10 HP below redline....that was on an unmodified
VQ engine....and filthy too!
