Default Wouldn't start...

Had the Z for about 3 weeks now. Getting used to the throwout bearing racket. Clutch pedal (from time to time) refuses to return to proper rest position (stops about half way). I can live with all that, but today after driving 40 miles home from work, I stopped at the local convenience store for a six. When I came out the car wouldn't start. It would turn and turn and turn, but not start. Called the wife to get the tow rope to come and get me. Before she left the house the car started.
My question to you is... Has anybody experienced this and what was the fix.

My first suspicion would be tht the clutch lockout switch for the starter is not being made.

You're clutch is probably stuck engaged, hence engine wont turn because it cant turn the transmission, and axles.

could be 2 things, Clutch Pedal is out of adjustment, or the springs to the clutch are worn.

But I might be wrong

Sorry for the lack of info. It's a 2004. It has 50K showing on the clock.
The clutch and the tranny are operating fine (matter of fact both are new). The starter switch that the clutch pedal engages is working fine ( I got down on my knees and manually pushed the thing while holding the key in the start position). As I said in the original post, the engine turned over (and over and over and over...) but wouldn't light off. After sitting for about ten minutes, it lit right off as if nothing had happened.

crankshaft position sensor. when they go bad they lose continuity at high temperature. when the car cools off, it works again.

of course this isn't for sure, but probably.

umm has the battery ever been replaced in the car? voltage could be reading good but your cold cranking amps are not strong enough.... I believe your CCA's are suppose to be in the range of 490 or something

Call me crazy, but if the engine is turning over.... I would seriously doubt it's a battery problem....

Any updates on this? I am having the same issues with my 03 with 49K. Could it be the clutch? Does that mean I need to replace it?

I've had the same problem on my 05' 33k Z. Hasn't happened in several months, but has occurred probably 7 or 8 times.

haha crazy.... no yea if the battery is dying or can't feed all the sensors with power... the Z's ECM likes to starve the fuel sending units of power... causing it to crank but allowing no fuel, but it does this without a code, sometimes leading to a code of P0462 (Fuel Level Sensor Circuit Low Input) after awhile... and the car will do this periodically so one time it might start good and another it acts like your getting no fuel or spark sometimes weeks apart... sometimes you'll never get a code at all, leading people to think my car fixed itself. But a lot of dealer techs get confused on how the ECM works, if you have no codes to read so i won't hold it against you ROAST

And another heads up if it's not the battery causing the problem. Than that's a good sign your fuel sending unit is going bad, but it'll glitch like that for awhile before codes....

Seems that my issue was the battery, replaced it with a new one and is running good now. No hesitation at start up.
