Ok, so here is the info from the other thread:

Ok, here is the background.....the fiance has a 2005 KIA sportage. Check engine light goes off, take it to autozone to have them read it for free, says one of the O2 sensors is going bad. had the guy clear the code (HUGE MISTAKE) and take it to KIA to get it fixed under warranty. As most of you can guess, this didn't work because they now have no code to read since I had the guy clear it!!

my question: how long should this take to throw a code again? my thought is if it really is going out, then it should throw the code again soon right? Car doesn't drive rough yet and mileage hasn't really dropped. the code also said the precat sensor was hot.

Thanks for any info.

If the sensor was bad, like failed, then the light wouldn't have stayed off long. You might have made it a mile. Might be a flook, wouldn't worry about it again untill it happens.

really, the code just said "hot o2 sensor bank 2". not even sure what would cause a "hot 02 sensor". it has gone like 200 miles since it was cleared and it hasn't gone back off. i figured if it was bad, it would go off again real quick.

and i don't know why everyone bashes KIA. it was cheap, gets decent mileage for a small SUV (25mpg), has a better warranty than most domestic small SUVs (excluding Chrysler/Dodge lifetime warranty). hell, the ford edge sucks and costs more...same with the trail blazer. no it won't be a car we have forever...but who on here keeps cars that long?
