AEM Air Intake Bypass Failure
Hey, guys...
It's been a while since I've posted around these parts... but I need to ask some advice.
Yesterday, after a big rain, my car died on the side of the PA turnpike. I took the car to the Nissan dealership, and they say that water got into the intake, and eventually made it back as far as the exhaust, and in the process, may have damaged some O2 sensors.
Now, I've had a long-standing issue after rainy spells, where at times, I can't take the car past 2500RPM, or else it starts revving erratically and jerking back and forth... but never to the point where the car stalled and black smoke came out of the exhaust like it did yesterday.
OK... Now that I've said that, I have an AEM long ram air intake installed, with an AEM air bypass valve. Apparently, the air bypass valve didn't work to keep water out of the intake, because Nissan is billing me $110 for to clean it up and replace what got damaged. Should I go after AEM to pay for it? Should I replace the air bypass valve or the complete air intake with something else from another company? Any suggestions for what products are good?
AEM should be aware of the importance of the bypass valve, since the 350Z has such minimal ground clearance.
Does anyone have a contact email address for AEM? I can't find one on their site.
Thanks for the help!

Here's a video that I took with my phone to better-illustrate the problem. I'm sorry that it's sideways. I couldn't fit my phone under the steering wheel safely right-side-up.
