Default How much do you trust your dealership?

After reading all these stories about how after going into the dealership their car comes out again with another part that goes wrong im just asking Is it really worth it to go there or DIY? Any other places you would take your car to? I hate the fact that you cant tell if they are honestly being genuine or just trying to scam you for more money.

Trust them as much as anybody else you don't personally know. That's one reason I make it a point to become "friends" with people who work at dealerships.

For some maintenance I would prefer a mechanic that I know and have a relationship. That is often impossible with a dealership. Mechanics are hidden behind “Staff Only Beyond This Point” signs.

I trust them enough to say I wouldn't take YOUR car to them...let alone my car.

I'm an ex-mechanic, and IF I can't do it, I'll find someone who can...this person will not be located at a Dealership

Never have, never will. Instead I started buying my own tools as I needed them and learning how to repair my own vehicle. It's trial and error. In the end you'll learn the mechanics of your car, take pride knowing the job was done right, and have a nice collection of tools....

Dealership takes too long, cost too much, and never really know what's going on. I really don't believe in paying for labor, cause I will either try to do it myself, get someone to help, or find someone local to help me. There are always good/nice people out there local to you who knows how to do everything you don't know how. They are always willing to help you, show you how to do it etc for not much/beer/food.

Went in once to get my loose dead pedal replaced under warranty...they replaced my car stereo instead.

They then replaced my dead pedal and after sitting there 4 hours for a 15min job they gave me a voucher for 4 free synthetic oil changes. LOL

I trust my dealership with everything that they do with my cars. I never bring my Z or Evo to anywhere else. See my thread https://my350z.com/forum/lounge-off-...my-dealer.html
