Default Rear axle clicking TSB

Hey everyone. As you can see this is my first post. This may be a noob question but I did some searching on a step by step to fix this problem and I didnt come up with anything. So please dont tell me to search haha. I do however have the TSB to go by. I just have a few questions before I get started tommrow evening and I want to make sure I dont get in over my head.
1. Do I have to use the special grease that is on the service bulletin? I think it was called molikote grease (SP) I called my local nissan dealership and they do have a tube of it. It will however cost me 20 dollars! thats ridiculous
2. The TSB also says that all the bolts, nuts, and washers should be replaced. Is this a definite? was quoted 60 dollars in hardware for the job haha WOW If so does anyone know off hand the demensions of the hardware so I can pick it up at a hardware shop? Grade too would be appreciated.

I am very **** about the stuff I get into and I want it to be done right the first time and not worry about it agian. Both axles seem to be clicking so i'll do both of them. I am out of the powertrain warranty by a couple of months but I dont mind doing it myself. I only trust me as a mechanic anyways(certified diesel tech).

Thanks in advance. This site already helped a bunch with a Sh*t load of questions I had before I bought the car. which was last friday!

I'm just starting to have this also, just hit 30k with my 03. The car is still in the powertrain warranty until January 09 but the axle clicking TSB is not covered under it. So I am on my own also. I'd also like the answers to your questions if anyone can do so. Also, where did you find the actual TSB for it? I tried searching under TSBs in ********* and axle clicking isnt in there.

that is BS

I just had this argument over the phone today with the service rep. My response was. The rear axle IS part of the drivetrain. Without them, the car could not propel itself forward. Tell them you want to speak with the service manager. If he is an ******* about it, tell him you want to speak with a representative from Nissan Headquarters.

My car is out of the 5 year mark. It was a early 2003 so the powertrain idea wouldnt even work. Does anyone have the pages out of a service manual by any chance? Thanks for all the replys guys. I think I will be on this site a lot more in the future.

I think this is covered under the drivetrain warranty not the powertrain.

It is, from my understanding, the axle not being lubed enough from the factory. "TSB" stands for Technical Service Bulletin. In other words, Nissan knows there's a problem, a common one, and not any fault of the consumer. Kind of like a recall, but not a problem bad enough to make Nissan want to immediately fix everyone's stuff.

Supposedly, no damage. and Nissan quoted me $250 for the job, although I'm trying to get this covered under my Powertrain warranty if I can.

Here it is short and sweet: 1. It is covered under the powertrain warranty. 2. It does not cause any damage if left unfixed. 3. Forget the hardware and just take off the axle nuts and lubricate the axle splines and inside of the hubs excessively.

The problem is not confined to any particular year. The service bulletin should be the same for all years.

Can someone please either PM me or post up the TSB link again? My axles are clicking horribly at 8800 miles, the local dealer said the TSB "only is for the 2003 through 2005 model years", they lied!

So I am going to the dealership I bought my car from (30 miles away) to have it done, but I do need the TSB to back me up to cover it under warranty, I dont feel like being hassled!

So please someone post it up, I cannot find it anywhere, all links are expired or deleted!
