Default exhaust leak?

I have a 2003 base 350z w Greddy TT. I suddenly heard what sounds like an exhaust leak after shifting to second and leaving rubber. I looked in the folder of records that came with the car and found that the previous owner had had the waste gait gasket replaced on the left (driver's) side.
Haven't had time to investigate the problem... but if it turns out to be the same gasket could that possibly mean the waste gate is not functioning properly? Is it not meant to release excess pressure? Thanks for any input.

Turns out the exhaust leak is from a blown gasket at the waste gate, left side, just like before.

Any input to possible causes for this? The first gasket blew last year according to records.
