Default help - car stalls on warm up starts

so my battery died a week ago and i had it changed but ever since that day, my car doesnt hold idle on starts when engine is warm. every morning it starts up like normal but when i try to start it again after the engine has warmed up, it just doesnt hold idle and car stalls.....so on warm starts, i have to give it like 2-4 sec of light gas and then it holds idle.....just seems like a wierd problem with a battery change....

the alternator was checked out and it is fine......any advice?

I had this same problem a while back - just perform the ecu reset , then maybe the Idle Air Volume Learning. Heck just do all the resets on THIS page - easy enough and should take care of the issue.

so ive tried it and didnt fix the problem.....how do i know that the resetting process was completed? should i see the CEL blinking or something? could it be a problem with the fuel pump? just doesnt make too much sense that i would have this issue with a batter change (the car was running fine prior to that).....any advice will be greatly appreciated.....

yeah the ecu process can be tricky sometimes and on some of the resets you can't really tell if it takes it - just gotta hope you did all the steps in the correct time. I almost wish the car came with a playstation joystick to reset the ecu!

It should not be the fuel pump otherwise - if it were the fuel pump I would believe it would have the same issue on a cold start as well. Like i said, I had a similar issue and it went a way with the ecu/throttle/accel. resets. If that isn't working for you then I'm not sure.

Could be a vacuum leak. The hose leading to the PCV valves will cause this very same problem...

ECU resetting procedure...

ECU Resetting Procedures

Timing is extremely critical. If it is NOT DONE within the specify time, the ECU will not reset and the Check Engine Light (CEL) will continue to remain ON.
A stop watch or an analog clock with a second’s needle will be useful.

Operations Procedures

1. Confirm that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch “ON” and wait 3 seconds.
2. Repeat the following steps (2a and 2b) procedures quickly five times within 5 seconds.
2a. Fully depress the accelerator pedal (HARD).
2b. Fully release the accelerator pedal.
3. Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 10 seconds until the CEL starts blinking.
4. Fully release the accelerator pedal (while the CEL is still blinking)
5. Wait about 10 second.
6. Fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for more than 10 seconds.
7. Fully release the accelerator pedal (The CEL light will continue to blink).
8. Turn ignition switch to “OFF” position and now you can start the car. The CEL light should be gone.

If the CEL light continues to remain ON, repeat the above steps. Timing is EXTREMELY critical to resetting the ECU.
