If we're affected by this, is the dealership going to call or mail a letter to us?

I notice when I drive with no one in the passanger seat, the airbag icon turns off after a while.

The notice that the dealerships received said that Nissan will start notifying the owners in early November. It also said that they estimate that less than 1% of the vehicles are affected. They are going to test the signal between the sensor in the cushion and the airbag control unit with a special tool they are going to ship to the dealers. Hope this helps.

Right on. It better detect an issue with mine, because the "airbag off" light comes on when my girlfriend is in the passenger seat. She easily outweighs the sensor limit by ~20 lbs too.

I never got a letter when I had my slave cylinder recall, so I just called the dealership and told them that there was a recall, told them my VIN# and they said bring it down this day and they'll replace it.

Well I'm not getting any flashing but I definitely think there is something wrong with the sensor. EVERY girl I've had in the passenger seat makes the light turn on, and I know they all can't be THAT light... guess I need to stop dating 14 year olds? lololol

Default I wanted to test the sytem to see if it works....

If you leave the seat empty and attach the seat belt will the OFF light stay on? Or do you need something light sitting in the seat with the seatbelt on? It is really confusing in the manual. It says the empty seat will automatically shut off the bag even though the OFF does not illuminate? I assume it means you need some sort of light weight on the seat...

I would have never known if i didn't read this. You'd think we'd get something in the mail as soon as this was found out? Oh well..

When my 5 year old sits in the seat the airbag sensor is not always engaged in the same manner. sometimes off sometimes not? this was my sign something was amiss.

i went to the dealer because ive been having this problem, he checked twice and i my VIN was not recalled, so i said check it anyways because i always have a passanger in the car. Low and behold it is faulty and will be replaced under warranty. I suggest that everyone who thinks that they have this problem get it checked out anyway just to be safe!

my Z has a flashing air bag light everytime the power is on. It happened randomly over night. Is this why? Mines an 03 though.

Also the passanger window comes down half way when I do automatic window click up. I i herd that's a sensor for if you got your fingers stuck in it but there's nothing there!!
What is this gay stuff?? What should I do?

I'll be going tomorrow to the stealership...according to Nissan my Vin isn't included in the recall. However i've been having this problem since day 1 on my 07. They suggested i take it and have someone look at it to confirm...
Anyone get this done yet? How long did it take?

I just received my recall notice in the mail, but my airbag light never flashes and the light is always off even when no one is sitting in passenger. Should i take it into the dealer or am i good to go?

light should be off when no one is sitting....its kind of tricky it should only come on when a certain weight range is on the seat (supposedly the weight range of a baby with car seat)
