low rattling noise when clutch is disengaged
sup, guys. just wondering if anyone has experienced this problem. i have an 06 base model for almost 2yrs with around 21k miles. when i start the car and its on neutral, there's a slight rattling noise on the engine or the clutch making that noise? but, when i press down on the clutch the sound disappears. i cant tell if the noise is there while its in gear and the car is moving, only when its on neutral and not in gear. it seems like there might be something loose. i brought it to nissan and they said it was normal for wear and tear, i honestly think their full of b.s. because it only took the mechanic a few seconds to say that without inspections. overall, there seems to be no problem with my ride besides that rattling noise. i dont know if something might be loose underneath the drivetrain, but i know for sure this noise is not normal. i just hope this doesn't lead to anything crucial down the line. thanks.
Don't worry, it is perfectly normal. You drive a sports car, enjoy the sound of performance. I have a 2006 base model as well and I have the exact same clutch chatter. If you don't believe me, read the FAQ's, it's nothing to worry about.
It can be pretty alarming at first... and it really does sound like something is going to fly off of your drivetrain, but it's normal. It's especially bad when you're coming down a decline in 1st, then you disengage the clutch... literally sounds like something broke.
It's just one of the Z's quirks that we have to take with the otherwise awesomeness of the car... kind of like having a hot girlfriend with an annoying laugh. I couldn't bring myself to dump her based on that
