Default Dealer says Clutch and that Voids Extended Warranty

Today I brought my 03' 350z to a Nissan Dealership to diagnose why my car grinds sometimes on 3rd and 90% of the time in 5th (I thought it was the synchronizer like I read in older threads). There diagnosis was "clutch is worn out-pedal has no free play-needs clutch assy+flywheel $2510 + tx"?

I find this very hard to believe because I experience no slippage in any gear?

Because of this my extended warranty has called and let me know that they wont cover a clutch replacement, they will cover a synchronizer drum replacement but not clutch?

What should I do??????

if its grinding in the GEARS, then it seems like its your transmission, Had that exact same problem on my 03.

Take it to another dealer, don't tell them anything about aftermarket parts and see if they'll fix it under warranty. Or call Nissan consumer affairs.

There's a reason why they call them stealerships

I have 57,000 on my car. from what i've read about the problem is most likely the synchro. what the mechanic form the Nissan dealership told me is that because of the clutch being worn out it is not working properly. There is a lot of free play in my clutch pedal but still I don't know? Amcco transmission said that the problem is internal and not my clutch?

Reason that I asked is because my OEM clutch lasted 63,000 miles and 5 years of weekend drag racing. It’s a reliable clutch.

My car is experiencing a 5th gear grind. Dealer is trying to tell me its the clutch which is not covered under warranty because its a wear item. BS, if it was the clutch it wouldn't do it only in 5th gear, every time. Call Nissan USA like I'm doing next week.

I am on my OEM clutch at 81,000+ miles. No slipping at all. But I don't drive it too hard either.
