Currently my Z is stored in my garage for winter. For the hell of it I wanted to chirp the alarm to see if the battery was still good. Well, it's dead. I plan to take it out on the nice days and I need a battery. It was getting sluggish while starting as the temp started going downhill so I figure I needed a battery a few weeks ago.
I don't have a much of a system in the car but I'd like a good quality battery not a Walmart special.
Does anyone have a suggestion for a good quality brand that may be above par and about $75-130?
I have all the large chain stores nearby, so any suggestions welcome.
Thanks for your time.

just figured out which battery i'm getting for my 2004 Z which is the DieHard Gold (North) with a min cold cranking amps of 640 for $104 at Sears (min CCA in the service manual is 582 amps). It seems lots of folks on this forum like the optima yellow top with 782 CCA for $189+ but I think thats if you have a 1000+ watt sound system or crazy stuff like that.

I have a Battery Tender Plus and just replaced my OEM nissan battery after 7 years (was still able to start the car, but during recent maintenance, the battery's charge was below spec, so it is a prophylactic replacement). I have no proof, but I attribute the OEM battery's longevity to periodic conditioning with my battery tender (use it about 2-3X a year)
