Default Window smoking

Started my car today, and did not touch the window switch but my window lowered about 1". When I went to try to roll it back up nothing happened but i saw some smoke come from where the window and door panel meet. I waited a minute and tried again and the window started to slowly (about 1/4" at a time) "jump" back up and when it reached the top it automatically lowered back to 1". I turned the car off and went inside to get something and when I came back out everything was back to normal (window normally rolled back up and down). What exactly could this have been? Should I be concerned?

No need to be concerned, smoke coming out of your door is perfectly normal!

I would say the motor is gummed up and needs to be cleaned or replaced. I'm sure you dont want to watch your Z burn right??? Might want to address this issue ASAP.

heres the sticky link on cleaning the window motor... Good luck!

a window motor new costs 480 from the dealer. id say get a re conditioned one for half that price and try it out. The install is a mild job, i did both my drive and passenger motors, the main thing is remembering where all the bolts go and what sequence, you should figure it out if you have a decent mechanical background
