Yep, exactly what I have. I got some looks when I walked out of Lowe's with it in my hand.

Welcome to the site.

Sorry to bring back from the dead...but i just upgraded my '03 to '06 headlights....and my driver side has some problem going on with it. My driver side has no hotspot..but my passenger side does..... i even vertically aimed the driver side all the way to the ground and the hot spot never appeared (thinking it was already to high...to no avail.....i even aim them super high thinking they could be aimed too low.....not the case...... i recorded a couple videos if you could please help.

Yeah i made some headway and got mine fixed. So my driver side was doing this, so i sent it back and they corrected it. A week and a half later (mind you my other headlight was just sitting undisturbed) i go to put both headlights back onto the car..and what do you know..the other one that was sitting untouched was doing this now..... WTF ?!?! so i call up the tech..and he instructs me that there are 3 "bolts" if you take off the back cover situated around the projector. One of which he stated was a ball and socket joint. My driver side headlight, when the tech looked at it, stated that the bolt was undone (how the hell that happens i'm not sure)

When i was sitting on the ground..in the parking garage with my front bumper out, and tools EVERYWHERE....he was trying to describe their location to me..to which he swears they are there. I couldn't find them... But in my haste i noticed that the stock OEM 4300k bulbs did not have this effect, but the aftermarket 5000k....were doing just what you see in my video.

I also noticed that the bulbs weren't seating right, so after muscling them into place it eventually corrected. BUT i was advised in correcting this to buy new ballasts (just in case it was them) which i bought at theretrofitsource.com (Matsushita Gen V Ballasts; they will be a direct replacement) and BOTH a set of the D2S Morimoto 3Five bulbs and the D2S: Philips 85122+ bulbs.....the philips bulbs are currently in my car without any problem. It sure was a bi*&% and a half jacking my car up, and removing the bumber/headlights 4-5 times in order to fix it.

My Suggestions:
Buy the ballasts and the bulbs: maybe OEM just to be safe, or the 5k...5k didn't work for me and jack the car up and set on stands (so you dont have to take off the wheel) and take out the headlights, preferably do this in front of a wall so you can see the beam pattern when testing the lights....now, these bolts i'm talking about are either 8 or 10 millimeter bolts according to the tech, so have these in reach. Just follow the DIY on this site in removing the front bumper..but be smart and just jack the front end up so you dont have to turn the wheels either direction. (2 jack stands were $20 at sears here) trust me..it's worth it. When you put the new stuff in, bolt the headlights back onto the car, keep the bumper off, and see if you can tell if the headlights are performing correctly on the wall you are so conveniently parked in front of. If not, great (sarcastically) and keep working.

when you have the headlights off...take off the back cover and check to see if you can see these bolts this Tech guy was talking about (i was fortunate enough to get to send them back and have HIM do it) but i lucked out on my passenger side. If you don't see the bolts, or anything that may be Loose in the headlight for that matter, go ahead and switch out the ballasts, and the bulbs, making sure the bulbs seat all the way down and is level on all sides (i had to use some forearm...which i say is a manufacturer defect..but whatever..i was so sick of working on these lights i didn't care).

If none of the above fixes the problem..hurry up and return the ballasts and the bulbs so you get your money back...and try calling up the stealership to see if they can help you....to save you money...take out the headlights yourself..then go to the dealership with them....I'm Positive it will save you a **** load of money. That should be the best way...Maybe keep the ballasts and the bulbs just in case the dealership wants to try it.

I really hope this helps man, it sure was a bi*&$ working on these lights..... i started my projector retrofit last winter and it slowly turned into me just buying the '06 headlights (which i am WAY happier with )

holy crap man. I guess I am going to have to try this. My passenger side headlight was completely messed up and I had to buy a new one. Now this with the driver's side. I guess that's what I get for buying used.

Hey..i bought my set of '06 headlights Brand New from a highly recommended source on Ebay...and they did come in the OEM packaging as well. Even brand new i had to deal with this BS...just go about the process i described above....OR just buy new headlights..lol...you may save money my way but you'll save yourself TONS of headache just buying all new right out of the gate. Good luck and let me know how it turns out!
