Default Need a new windshield--any advice?

Yup, some ******* 18 wheeler threw a giant rock up and smashed up my windshield. Here's the fun part--I was the second car back and I saw the freakin' rock fly right over him and head straight for me.

I need to take her in to get the feathering TSB taken care of, so would my SM be able to take care of the windshield as well? At least for a decent price?

I'm annoyed as hell right now...but I'm hoping that this can be taken care of quickly, along with my feathering TSB. Anyone else have to go through this yet?

Wait 'till you see the price of a new windshield, you might want to bring some KY lube.

I don't get it, you had to pay for a windshield? I had 3 replaced on my previous car in one year due to rock chips and insurance covered every penny. Does this vary state to state or something?

also get the one that has tint on the top of the windshield, since our standard one doesn't come with it...

I think in many states you have to pay the deductable and the insurance will pay for the rest.

DAYUMN! 800 bucks for a freakin' windshield???

I'll have to find out the details of my insurance coverage tomorrow morning when I talk to my agent, but I know it's a much cheaper deductible than in an accident (just can't remember what).

Well, thanks for the warning about the ridiculous price dealers are trying to charge--at least now I won't have a heart attack when they give me some outrageous number.

I had to replace mine about 6 months ago. I used Safelite auto glass. I paid 50.00.... the insurance co covered the rest. I think the retail on the windshield was around 400.

I had to pay a $200 deductable for my insurance company and used their recommended shop, which was Safelite. The day before the scheduled appointment, Safelite called me to let me know if I rescheduled the appointment that they would take $100 off, and so I reschedule it to a couple days later. They did a good job except they didn't completly clean the interior from the installation, but it wasn't bad. They gave me a windshield with blue tint at the top.

Wow that sucks. I guess I don't have a deductable for windshield replacements. Never in my life have I had to pay anything for it.
