Mine does this also. I notice it when I am in the garage with the windows down. Others have stated that they notice it also. Don't know if it is normal or not.

Some degree of rattle is normal, but if it seems to be erratic, then I would suggest getting it looked at.

I have the same rattle. Sounds to me like the throw out bearing gone bad. My other car is a M/T and it never made this noise.

I'm taking mine in only 273mi on it. Even my wife noticed it.
And she drove my old truck while smoke poured out the back until the motor siezed up.

Her reply: I didn't know that was from my truck.

So I know something isn't right

Haven't gone to the dealer yet. Just got the car on 9/20.

I work in the automotive field, and it sounds just like a throw-out bearing gone bad.

I've put new ones in and sometimes you'll get a bad one.
It should be taken care of under warranty.

I feel it is a problem, but others say its Nissan trait. This is my first Nissan.
I talked to the service dept. today and set up to take it on on Thursday 9/25. The service writer said Nissan wants any problems diagnosed and corrected ASAP.

I'll post on Thursday evening to let eveyone know the outcome.

I just noticed it on mine tonight going through a drive thru. I've had it since the beginning of August with 3k miles on it. When I pulled it into my garage I could defiently notice it. I've never noticed it before so I think it just started happening.

I have an 87 Civic that has a bad main input bearing. It makes a simular chattering noise when in neutral. Sounds like a grinding ratcheting noise when the drive is engaged.

I don't think this rattling noise is 'normal'.'ve never owned a Nissan before but I don't think it is a desirable 'trait'

I'll defiently be interested to here what the dealer says.

Well, just as Pure Tremble stated: The dealer said that it is a "common trait" for this transmission and it is nothing out of the ordinary. I know that I'll be keeping tabs on it. This is the first time I've encountered a vehicle in which that sound is "normal".

I got the extended warranty after I was told this, just in case Nissan comes up with a hushed TSB for it.

Default thats right it's normal

If you don't like throw out bearing noise then buy an automatic.

I'm not knocking the AT5 I bought one and am glad I did.

I have a RX7 that is a manual and I always get a little throw out bearing noise along side concrete walls. If you think that noise is bad wait till you actually have a thow out bearing go out on you.
It will sound like garbage cans clanking around underneath your car.

I have a car in my garage with an ACT Extreme clutch. It does not sound antyhing like this. Just because Nissan tech said its normal at this time does not mean it is.

Ford said the same thing about my 4R70W tranny when it vibrated the whole truck at 65mph. After I found a small hidden sticker on the trans crossmember and informed them of it I suddenly was given a new transmission.

But it too was "normal" up till that point.

If it gets worst, just duplicate it at the dealer and get a new tranny

This is normal. It is the transmission gears that make this noise. I can only hear it in my garage.
