Default clutch wont release!

Hello guys
Couple days ago I was stuck on a road hill about 40 degrees. I was trying to stay put by giving a little gas and clutch. I don't want to use the brake cuze when I leave my foot off the brake the car will go down hill a bit. But anyway When the traffic started to go, I let out the cluth pedal and hit the gas to go, but the clucth pedal wont realease. After couple times trying to press on the clutch, it finally release. After that I smell alots of burning from the clutch. This is the second this happened to me. I've been drving manual for a long time and never have any problem like this. Anyone know what's going? The smell of burn clutch was enormous in the car when that happened. Thanks

Patrick

don't do that anymore. that causes extreme wear and tear on your clutch. use your parking brake instead to prevent your car from moving backwards next time.

That is probably the worst thing you can do to your clutch. It probably overheated it the diaphragm spring and release fork causing warpage and the parts to bind.

Don't do that anymore.
