I have an 05 Z with 43k on it, 6mt.

I purchased the Z with 32k on it and haven't had any real trouble with the tranny, but I do have some inquiries.

Firstly, my tranmission and switching through the gears is clanky, but also 'clicks' going into a new gear. I've read that the Z gearbox is common to have clanky noises and such, but what about the engagement clicking?

2 - Whenever i shift into thrid, although it goes in smoothly, the stick clicks at the top most position as the last engagment occurs. Is this signs of the dredded synchro problems?

3 - I have noticed a slight difference in 'smoothness' and 'suave' in the clutch when downsifting as well as very very slight in upshifting. I believe it is just my baby telling me it is time for some new tranny and clutch fluid. Any thoughts on my prediction?

Finally - Because the Z tranny is notorious for crapping out, I would like to purchase an "away from dealer" warranty for my transmission and DT. Does anyone currently pay for an extended warrenty bought outside of Nissan? If so, what is the price per month I should be looking at.
