Default Synthetic switch over...

Im about to do my 3rd oil change and im thinking I should change to synthetic now. Currently at 6300+ miles. Should I change over now? My gut tells me yes, but wanted to hear from owners who have changed to synthetic.

I switched at 13K.

I decided to err on the side of 'waiting to change to synthetics until the car is well broken'. I don't know whether this is the truth or just myth.

It seemed easier to follow Nissan's written recommendations in case there were any warrantee issues that cropped up in my car.

Ok, I just switched over to Mobil 1 synthetic and its definetly smoother overall. I can especially notice when rev-matching/downshifting.

But overall, it is definetly much smoother than when I changed my oil the other two times.

I switched to Mobile 1 at 4700 miles and plan to do a 5000 mile oil and filter change, or at 6 months, whichever comes first.

I change all of my MV's that do not come from the factory with Mobil 1 as soon as I can, perhaps a few hundred miles. Then every 10K miles or 1 year, whichever comes 1st.

FYI - Mobil 1 comes from the factory in Corvettes and Dodge Viper so there is no bad/good time to switch to the syn stuff. The sooner the better. I switched at 1000 miles. It is all I use, expect for Amsoil in my other toy, my VStar 1100.

I am using Mobile 1 5W-30 and factory filter at 5000 mile change intervals or 6 months, depending on driving conditions. Lots of in-town driving, I will replace oil and filter earlier.

Awaiting 7500-8000 miles.... will go synthetic unless some new revelation (about adverse effects) presents itself on the board...
