Default Oil Change EVERY 1900 Miles!!!!!!!!

Hey everyone, the past 6 months, i have been noticing that my oil gets pretty bad soon. I do race sometimes, but not close enough for it to be changed this soon. Im thinking i got some sort of leak in the engine. Does anyone have any suggestions or knowledge about this issue? Any idea on cost of repair.

What makes you think your oil gets "bad"?.

Engine leak? And what do you think may be getting into the motor oil?

Don't worry about the color. Go with miles. Color can be tricky with different oils.

What do you mean by "bad?"

If the oil is turning white, you've got a coolant leak where coolant and oil are coming into contact (your coolant will also be changing color).

If the oil is just turning dark, that's pretty normal, however prolonged heat can turn the oil quite dark, and that's not good. Racing is a good way to get "prolonged heat" into the engine.

Most people think that coolant is the way that the engine keeps cool. They're only partially correct -- oil plays an even bigger part of cooling the engine. That's why you don't just come in and shut off a hot engine -- open the hood and let the engine idle for a few minutes to get the worst of the heat out of the center of the engine!

I think he means he has a leak when he says bad, as in low in oil? Otherwise he wouldn't be asking if there are any leaks. If there are leaks, trace the leak down and get it fixed.

well i checked the dip stick it looked bad, and my oil gauge kept popping on and off. And i use synthetic blend 5W-30W oil. Can anyone else tell me you punch it and it sounds kinda lower than usual because it needs an oil change

your oil light will pop on and off if you only put 4 quarts of oil in it, rather than 5.

Switch to some quality full synthetic. Mobil 1, Castrol, etc.. Use a good filter. Change your oil every 3k miles or so if you do spirited driving. By racing do you mean tracking? I personally would do the change right before, unless its relatively new. Then I'd do it shortly after.

If I'm not mistaken, your oil is supposed to change colors. That is normal, and means it's doing it's job. If you are still concerned, you can have an oil analysis done for around $25to see if the oil is good and is properly protecting your engine. You will also learn about how the engine is wearing based on the analysis.

I think the company that does it is called blackstone.

Oil light going on and off could be because you are low on oil? Maybe you are burning oil? it is a possibility. Keep track of your oil level and monitor it over the coarse of a few weeks. If you are still under warranty take it to the dealer, have them keep track of oil levels to see how much is being burned, just in case you want to make a warranty claim later.
