Need a replacement ECM for my 2004 Z. Is there a difference between the modules as far as the transmission is concerned? Any other conflicts anybody can think of besides just the transmission? Doesnt each ecm come programmed with an imobilizer? How do you reset that? Thanks.
Probably not they have different part numbers. The ECU controls shift points, etc. so you'd need one for an A/T car anyway. Other conflicts would come into play if you tried using a base model ECU in a touring car, etc. VDC/TCS, cruise control, etc. would all be missing.
Only the dealer can re-program your keys to a new ECU.

You're right but it still has to talk to the proper ECU.

There are 26 different ECUs listed for the 350Z. For most of them, you'll see an A/T and M/T version for specific years/models.
