Clutch or Tansmission
I was driving my car and the pedal started sticking so I did a thread search found out some info... Did my homework 1st! Ne ways, I started having to over rev 2 engage in any gears. I'm assuming this is my clutch and I've bben told that as well. Well I'm ordered a new clutch and flywheel and I'm planning on adding hotter temp clutch fluid. As I read will sometimes help. But I havent started my car in a few weeks so I decided 2 change out my belts and fluids. No I start my car and no gears will engage its like nuetral in all gears even after I put it in gear and let off the clutch what is the possible problem? Any advice will help... Thanx in advance.
- check for clutch fluid leaks from both master and slave cylinder
- change to a hi-temp dot4 clutch fluid
- change to a stainless steel clutch line
- change out the clutch and flywheel
- drive the car properly
- enjoy

The original clutch peddle sticking is a clutch problem.
The new no gears problem may also be a clutch problem. Here is a test:
a. Take the car for a drive. Assume you have no operational clutch.
b. Bring up the RPM. Push the shift lever into 1st gear. As the RPM is increasing, the shift lever will go into 1st.
c. Same with 2nd gear. Bring up the RPM. Push the shift lever into 2nd. As the RPM is increasing the shift lever will go into 2nd gear.
If you can shift without a clutch, the clutch is broken.
If you cannot shift without a clutch, the transmission is broken.
BTW I drove across the entire state of Oklahoma in a VW with no clutch. A clutch is a convenience not a necessity.
