Does anyone have a suggestion to solve the abnormal wearing I have on my front tires of my 03 z? They are wearing on the inside of the tires and there is a lot of road noise around the 20mph range. I have heard that this is an issue with the 03's I was just wondering if there is a good soultion to the problem.

I have it also terrible... I had it aligned twice and nothing seems to fix it.

thanks for the link but thats 201 pages... if someone knows a quick fix instead of reading 200 pages of opinions it would surely would be way more efficient.

I got it on my '07


I bought a 07 just so I wouldn't have the problem 03 / 04's did .. but that wasn't the case I guess


Filed a complaint with nissan and they basically say they'll give a free alignment if I buy tires from THEM


they called me and gave me some lecture about soft compound tires on a "sports vehicle" and cant be rotated .. blah blah blah

basically replace tires and get alignments often is the only conclusion I can come to from that phone call

Nissan blames any tire wear on the alignment .. so according to them get alignments pretty darn often and you SHOULD be fine (I guess)

Get the car aligned once a year at a minimum. That's the one and only fix.

to add to that .. if you drive your Z very often .. then I'd say every 5,000 miles or so

I bought mine 4 months ago with 3,000 miles .. got 11,000 miles and a bad set of front tires already

Yea no mod here wants to prune a 201 pg thread then when anyone new comes in and asks they still say go read 201 pages. Its lame

But alingment is the only fix that and get a slightly harder compound tire, somthing really soft will wear faster and get a good alignment and often. I have had tires on my car for about a year now and are just and i mean just starting to show signs of feathering, about 15k miles on the tires.

get on 417racing.com and ask them where they would recomend having an alignment done. Dont go to the nissan dealer on campbell ave place messed my alignment up pretty good.

My 07 has it bad now at 14000 miles. Started showing signs at around 5000. I knew about this and was watching from day one. Its getting pretty loud now and I'm hoping it doesnt get any louder cause its pretty annoying. I was actually thinking about putting the rears on the front and the fronts on the rears even though the sizes would be wrong and that the rear end might have even less traction. just the only thing i can do at home that might help the noise out a bit...just rotate myself.

My alignment is good right from the factory so I'm not going to let some assclown alignment guy dick with it in a false hope that will fix it. I'm going to have to buy new tires eventually and I'll try to find ones that are maybe a little harder.

On a side note I watched a 350Z driving beside me on the hiway the other day and I saw the front suspension in motion and it looked to me that the front tires are cambering in as the travel moves down and it looked like that might be causing the feathering wear. Also if i look closely at my tires i can see strange rubber wear on the blocks...look like stress cracks or wear on part of the blocks. looks to me like the blocks are moving under pressures as the tires are flexed with that suspension travel up and down. Doesnt really matter either way...nothing fixes this...maybe a 370z

There is a 200 page thread because it’s several years’ worth of people saying, what to do, or what they have tried, then 20 pages later saying no that didn’t work. Then someone saying he is trying this will let us know how it goes, and then 10,000 miles later, nope that didn’t work. Or there is a TSB out go back to the dealer or a new alignment spec that will fix it, then you guessed it, that didn’t fix it. Face it there are 200 pages of out of date information that no one wants to read through. That thread could be pruned down to 1-5 pages with just the facts for a quick solid answer.

The only true way to fix it is get alignments and often, run a harder compound tire that can withstand the slight miss-alignment. That’s pretty much it, a wider tire I have heard can help or lowering the car, but the only sure way is an alignment.
