Sooo, took the car to the Capitol Nissan and they knew about the window streak and did not treat me like a fool.... sofar so good!
drop it off around 12 and they called me around 4 to pick it up.. Hurray!!!!
I had the car for 9 month now and i like to keep my car clean... and that streak drive me up the wall...
First thing i noticed was while closing the door, the door handle was loose.... there seems to be some "play" between the handle and the door... great
now ck out the window... First click of the window down button.... window works fine... another click to bring the window up... expecting to see perfectly "oil free" window......
i now have a thinner streak of oil... not as bad as before... but it's still there!!!!!!!! for both sides.... and after the "fix" i now see new oil mark that wasn't there before......
So, after they fix the streak:
driver's side door handle is loose
streak still there but the oil is thinner...
new streak mark appears on the window...
after reading some of the horror stories about window adjustment... I am lost on what to do.... take it back again???
wheeew... that felt better

I still have the streak and I'm going to keep it. I wash my car so often it usually isn't there and I don't use my windows that much anyway. I have seen a lot of problems and there have been owners who have said that the "fix" was worse than the problem so I'm leaving mine alone.

miraculously, today... it seems to act a little better.... still can see some oil...
Maybe this could be a sign "the oil" will be gone after a few days???
Is this a scene from X file...

hmm.. if continues on for another week... try and take it back. When i serviced my car for the TSB, I had a very very very thin oil streak for about 2 or 3 days days before it was completly gone. Also, tell them to fix that door handle. Thankfully, I had no rattles of any kind when i got my car back. When you get this resolved... you can cruise with the window down and not have to worry about that streak again!!
the tech told me after I had the streak TSB performed that it was natural to have a small amount of grease for a week or so (depending on use) so he told me to clean it in one week and then everything would be fine....and it was. no more grease for me. But tranny whine!! Don't get me started

cool.... thanks so much for replying! I thought i was going crazy...
the oil streak seems to be thinner day by day....
I figure if i call the service people, they will tell me "it will get better..." and i can see myself ready to kill them...
Hearing it from you guys who had the TSBperformed... i now have a positive hope.....
I don't use my window much.. but don't want to worry when the window is down... reminds me of defects in my car!!!
btw, i push the arm rest padding down, and heard a couple of snaps... everything is fine again... these grease monkey... why can't they finish a job normally.....
life of a Z owner.....

This is one problem that I'm probably going to overlook. I don't want them taking apart my door because they might do more damage. My car get's washed twice a week and each time the interior and windows are wiped down anyway.

i am happy to report after about one week.... 93% of the streak seems to have disappeared!!!! the new streak marks are GONE...The old streak mark is left with some broken streak and barely noticeable....
i am happy to roll down the window to pay toll now
I would recommand this fix if you are willing to put up with another week of streaking!!!

funny....
my streak is still there.... I pretty much gave up on this fix.... I had my in for 2 times to get this fix and the streak is still there... And everytime I bring it in, the more rattles I hear.
After the last episode with replacing my shift ****, I might have to start to re-evaluate Capitol Nissan's technician's qualification on working on a Z.
on a side note though, the two service advisors that I worked with were all very helpfull

i think the "trick" in dealing with Capitol is to let them know that you know a lot of people on this board... I sited examples with other members and he remember the case! I made sure he knows that everything happen to my service will be posted...
u can always remind them how the service was on that satisfaction survey!
good luck!

Those bastards at capitol Nissan suck imho. They quoted me 3 weeks to replace the tranny on my 2004 350z with only 800 miles on it. It has already been in there twice before for not starting and leaving me stranded. They had the nerve to give me the car back the second time knowing i would get stranded again. Let me tell you, if I wait the 3 weeks, capitol would have had my car longer than I had owned it !! I already contacted a lawyer regarding this and will call them today and tell them how it will be, because I refuse to wait 3 weeks for a tranny on a car that I bought new and have only driven for 4 weeks. I will demand a new car, we'll see how it goes.
They never return your calls, any of them, not the service manager, sales manager, anybody. I'm hoping a call from a lawyer might make them pick up the phone then.

I hear ya. Their service manager are nice and all when you're there, but everytime I leave them a msg, they rarely call me back. They were pretty cool when I used to work with the service director Andrew Mcdonald (name sp?). but I was told he hasn't been there for a while. Simon have been pretty good on getting my warrenty repaired done as well as Anothony. Even though I had to keep calling back to make sure the warrenty parts came in. But after them keeping my car for a week and breaking a few parts (and replacing them) just to change my shift *****, I have serious reserves about going back to them for other repairs. Though, they did provide me with a loaner and a free oil service though.
I would recommend them for getting your warrenty repairs done, but you would have to take all the initiatives and follow ups to get it done.
like I said earlier, when you are there in person, they have excellent customer service, but when you're not there, good luck on getting hold of them.

I had the streak problem fixed and it is gone. However, I now have a "buzzing" noise. It sounds like some sort of feed back coming though the rear speakers, but it is not. It is coming from the passenger side arm rest. I can put pressure on it as I am driving and the buzzing stops, till I hit a bump, then it comes back. Very annoying.

Mattvols, you may want to check if the arm rest is clipped in properly... i had to push down/in on the arm rest and heard a few more click... amazing how the extra streak and some noice went away!!!!!!
I had mine in last week for the grease, and a few other well know problems. Well my streaks are gone!, the grease ones that is. Now the only ones I have are from the water that seeps between the window and the seal
Has anybody gone ahead and adjusted this themselves? Screw the dealer, took 3 days to get this and a oil change, also checked alignment, said it was in spec, doubt it. Also sounds like a beer bottle rolling around under drivers seat, they knew all about the TSB on this, but still said they couldn't "replicate" the problem. Really not to happy with this dealer. Shoulda knew I was in for a little problem when the SM said 'yeah bring it in next week, I won't be here, I'll be on vacation, but we'll take care of ya'....Aghhh.
