CEL knock sensor...could this be the problem

Question CEL knock sensor...could this be the problem

well a couple days ago my cel came on and i took it to autozone they told me its the knock sensor. so i got the new sensor and harness now im starting to take it apart and i noticed this... there is some wire still connected could this be why the knock sensor went off?

found another problem the knock sensor harness is melted off any idea why that happened

Yes, the broken wire generate more resistance and throw off your computer reading. Maybe the harness clips are loose/broken so the wires are touching the hot surface?

Buying a whole harness is expensive, you can try to get the same gauge wires, cut the burn off one and solder the new wires.

I had a freaking mouse chew up my knock sensor wire harness. I was able to get a part # after harrassing the dealer and Nissan. The part # for the knock sensor sub harness is 24079-CD000. Hope this helps..

I need help replacing my wire harness and live in the San Francisco Bay Area if anyone is willing.

the part is available through Courtesy Nissan as well for $70. You can save a little money since they take soo much of it from us already.

had the same result. r&r'd sensor and harness and gained over 55 whp. thanks to Z Car Garage in San Jose...

z1 now also sells the harness by itself for 20-30 bucks
