Oil Change EVERY 1000 Miles!!!!
Hello, im in deep trouble, my Z is burning oil way too quickly. My oil is pitch black with maybe ALMOST 4 quarts left after 1000 miles of driven. I think it might be the piston rings. But should i look for a used engine or what can i do to rebuild it back to new? Any one else experienceing this problem?
What year, and how many miles?
Short answer - if it's under warranty, go to a Nissan dealership and start the process. If it's out of warranty, add oil when it needs it, and do a complete oil, filter, and crush washer change regularly.

its an 03 m/t motor. Has about 73,000 miles on it. I got the car a while back and kinda beat on it, but trying to make up for it now, the only thing is, i think its a little too late. Im using castrol synthetic blend 10w-30 now and mix in some lucas oil everytime before oil change

dam man your right, if i still didnt owe money on my Z, i would have traded it in by now. IDK i wanted the Cossworth racing engine, but it cost 12 thousand dollars total. You think HKS piston and connecting rods might cure it a little?

A complete engine rebuild will likely fix it, but I wouldn't (at least I'm not) doing anything until forced to. Car makes 266rwhp/250rwtq, so is plenty for my applications (track car).

"My oil is pitch black with maybe ALMOST 4 quarts left after 1000 miles of driven."
pitch black oil is good. that means its doing what it is supposed to, hold all the crap in suspension. 1 quart for 1000...yeah like Kornercarver, I would'nt br worrying. Just monitor it frequently, feed it fresh oil when you need to. See if the consumption goes up or stays the same or ? over time. If everything else is sweet...

well i put about 850 miles on my oil now. And i am in need of 1 1/2 quarts. I am going to try some rislone piston cleaner before oil change. After i have some lucas oil consumption i will add with my new oil. As well as lucas fuel injector. Crossing my fingers for improvement lol.

well i did use 5w-30 but it is getting cold out so my past 2 or 3 oil changes have been 10w-30. I know a lot of people say lucas oil is bad and all. But i have no other choices, today i changed my oil and used some rislone piston cleaner before the change. And after used lucas oil stabalizer and fuel injector and the engine is quieter and smoother. Idk how long, but hopefully longer than 850 miles lol
Use 10-30 in the summer if you have to but when it gets colder use 5-30 so the car will crank easier when its real cold out. Also, Nissan says no fuel injector cleaner at all.

Yeah, in my experience no manufacturer ever recommends any additives of any sort, for fuel, or oil, whatever. There's a reason for that..... If they really worked the manufacturers themselves would sell them to you, like "Nissan Oil" , (yeah right, like Nissan have their own completely independant and self sufficient oil production and processing facilities that they use only to produce "Nissan Oil".)
There was a time years ago when a whole range of gadgets and additives were pushed. 98% were rubbish. the other 2% was statistical error.
Just on the oil, if its pitch black with no abnormalities like frothing or bubbling then are there any other signs like excessive deposits around the exhaust tips or ?
<not a Z expert, just from my general car experience>
Gee.

Yes there is excessive deposits around the exhaust tips and whole rear bumper from blowing out black smoke. What could that be from?
