Mine did the same thing when the starter was shot. Could be that or something different. Try to jump start the car. Maybe your battery has just enough juice to run the lights and nothing else.

maybe haven't driven on the freeway much? I think more likely dead battery. I heard clicking also when my battery died (which happened to be on my 2nd day of ownership!)

sounds like the starter to me, but usually it'll start acting up before it goes completely like your car wont start right away for a while then it just doesnt start at all... does it turn over at all?

If the lights ran dim during cranking, get a jump, mostly is the battery. If it still doesnt work, check ur starter. Usually get a rubber hammer and hit the starter a few time, you will get it started again.

I have a brand new battery in my Z, but lately in the last few days it has really hesitated to start. It seems to do this when the engine is already warm (hot start). Starter or something else?

Do you put the key in the accessory position for a couple seconds before you turn the motor over to build up fuel pressure?

Check your after market electrical installs for current drain. I had an alarm that after 3 years or so drained my battery slowly; when I would drive the car every day, no problem, but as soon as I got a company vehicle to drive I would notice a weak battery on the weekends. In any case it sounds like you have a current drain somewhere.

I haven't done that in years.....I actually had to do that with my Mustang after "hot starts". I will try that, makes sense. Thanks.
