If the catalytic converter is OFF the car you can hold it in a vice.

A oxygen sensor tool like the one above has a cut in it for the wire. Swivel handle allows plenty of leverage.

I was able to get a " Extended Offset Oxygen Sensor Wrench" it has the same head as the tool in the picture just where that handle is there is a 3/8" square drive for a ratchet or breaker bar. picked it up at Kragen 14$ gave the clearence over the bracket and enough room to loosen it Any one else replacing sensor 1 either bank get the tool in the picture or attachment tool i described will save you lots of time and frustration!

Did you replace the driver or passenger side o2 sensor, and what brand and type (direct fit or splice) of o2 sensor did you purchase? FYI, bank 1 is the PASSENGER's side and bank 2 is the DRIVER's side. I had a bank 2 sensor 1 lean code on my 350 and I'm glad I verified which bank is which because I would have assumed bank 1 was the driver's side and bank 2 was passenger. After replacing my driver's side (bank 2) sensor with a Bosch direct fit o2 sensor the light has not come back in over a thousand miles.

My friend is a mechanic for toyota and helped me letting me know passenger side is bank bank 1 i replaced it with Bosch OEM direct Fit noo splicing i had my vin# ran at the dealership which identifies the exact part number in which was desegnated to my vehicle when it was made i then sent that info to bosch and had them cross check the # with what is there replacment part it is bosch Air fuel /O2 sensor#15667.

did your DTC code indicate it was that particular sensor none others and was indicating a lean shift or a rich shift? what mileage was on your vehicle "ms350z"?

The code I had was "P0174 Fuel Trim Too Lean Bank 2". I determined the o2 sensor to be faulty through watching o2 voltage readings with a diagnostic cable attached to my laptop. I had about 67k miles on my 350 when this code popped up.

Anything that is causing the o2 sensor to get a lean reading could cause the code that you are having. A vacuum or exhaust leak prior to the o2 sensor would be likely culprits, or possibly a clogged or bad fuel injector on that bank. Does your car have any mods? Have any parts such as your intake manifold been removed prior to the SES light coming on?

Only mod is short ram cold air intake! vacume or exhaust leak prior to sensor but after plenum i believe has got to be my isssue, i have ran alot of fuel injector cleaner through the sytem so likely not that but wouldnt rule it out!

I dont know if the intake manifold has been removed at all but my cel light came on only few days after i bought so could have been removed before i purchased it, but what would that do?

Most likely the previous owner reset the CEL prior to selling it to you, the light usually won't come back on for 30 miles or so. When the intake manifold is removed there is a gasket between the head and the intake manifold that will leak if everything is not put back on carefully, also if the fuel injectors were removed for some reason the o-rings that seal the injectors are likely to leak. Start by carefully looking for any cracked or loose hoses that may be causing a vacuum leak.

I bought it from a dealership, test drove it twice never came on, driving it home late at night 300 mi drive home 34 miles in light goes off . this seems to me as a likely culprit only because there was no strut bar when i bought it and you must remove that to take the intake manifold off.
i have checked for cracked hoses and any hissing noises like vaccume leak but cant find anything.
Why on earth would they have done this and how much you think it will cost me to fix if that is the case?

I can't say for sure why they have done whatever they've done, unfortunately it isn't uncommon for dealerships to be dishonest. If you do the labor yourself, it will mainly cost you time trying to track down the vacuum or exhaust leak. If you take it to a mechanic it will just depend on how long it takes them to track down the problem and how much the needed parts cost.

Thats not to bad of news i have a really good friend who is a mechanic for toyota and would help me find the problem for free probably, only problem is he lives near my parents 250 miles away.
Parts couldnt be much more then the O2 sensor i allready bought and installed that was not my problem?(120 shipped) unless there is something majorly wrong you think!
Thanks a ton ms350z honestly been the most help i have found on this site.

Free labor is good, the needed parts will probably just end up being an intake or exhaust gasket or injector o-rings. I'm glad I can help, I know when I posted on here regarding my CEL, nobody provided any help and I ended up tracking the problem down myself. I'm used to forums for previous cars I've had like an MR2 and Eclipse where there are a lot of gearheads that are all willing to help each other out, I guess most folks on the 350 forum aren't really gearheads and more concerned about what 20" wheels to install on their car.

Exactly my issue i have been asking around about this issue for like 2 months no one helps more then saying just buy a new one as the stupid dealerships also say and as you know that got me no where!
I always try to be helpfull to others on the site when i can help, what goes around comes around! have also noticed most of the people on here think you may not be worthy of answering when you may not be as knowledgeable as them!
Anyways thanks will post after i check those with mechanic friend let you know what my issue was in the end!
