Being new to both the forum and Z ownership, I was curious as to hype AGAINST Fram oil filters for Zs.

Why not pay $5 more dollars for a reputable brand like k%n?

That's my point.... Is there something showing that FRAM is not a good product? I normally use Penzoil products and Penzoil's filters are made by FRAM. I'm always open to change for something better is there is a good reasoning behind why one may be less reputable or why one may be a better performer. Would it be in my (the Z's) best intrest to just use the filters from the Courtesy Parts site?

The only oil filter I've ever had fail on me was a Fram. It sprayed oil EVERYWHERE. They use cardboard parts where they should be using metal. Do a google search on them. Info on thier craptacular manufacturing quality is abundant.

I've been using nothing but Fram filters and Castrol oil in all of my cars and trucks for at least thirty years, with the exception of my 350Z. I've had only one minor problem related to the internal engine parts that are lubricated with oil, and I doubt it had anything to do with the filter.

As long as the Z is in warranty, I'll probably keep taking it to the dealer. I'll let them put in a Nissan filter and have them put in Pennzoil synthetic oil.
