High Pitched Whine from '05 350Z
I have a 2005 Touring 6MT 350Z with 23,500 miles. During the initial drive, after the car is cooled down, I get a high pitched whine from the center-rear of the car. The sound is mostly audible in he 3,500 rpm range, in 2nd-5th gears, while letting off the gas. Once the car warms up, or if the day is hot (above 80 degrees) the sound will vanish. It occurs with TCS "on" or "off".
I have an idea of what the sound is, but I don't want to influence the responses with my own diagnosis. I know the car is still covered under the powertrain warranty, but the dealer claims the sound doesn't exist when they drive it (even if I let them keep the car overnight so they can drive it first thing in the morning). Any new ideas on a diagnosis, or confirmation of my thoughts, would be helpful. Thanks

BTW, does anyone remember a wheel recall for the 2005 model year? I have 2 sets of wheels, one with street tires (originals) and one with autocross tires (from a 2006 model). One of my street wheels has a cracked spoke on a front rim. The crack is "through and through" the rim, and I've never been in an accident. My autocross wheels take a lot of abuse during an autoX, but show no signs of fatigue based failure. I recall getting a postcard from Nissan USA about the wheels, but the dealership, once again, tells me I'm mistaken. Just wanted to see if anyone else got that postcard, and if so, did they save it.

Paul,
That's exactly the way my wheel is cracked! I knew I received something from Nissan. I hate this new dealer I have to use (OC Nissan): my old dealership closed down (Family Nissan in RSM). Thanks for the scan. I'm going to take it to the dealership to show them they are morons.
