Default Drive Shaft knocking?

So recently my drive shaft shredded into two pieces out of no where. I got everything replaced and worked on by the Nissan dealer. Now there is a knocking noise that happens every so often.

If Nissan doesn't hear the noise, there isn't a problem.

Any ideas as to what it could be?

That's definitely not normal. The Z's carbonfiber driveshaft is precisely balanced and shouldn't be out of balance anywhere. Try to figure out when and why the knocking happens and get it back to the dealer before your warranty is up. The driveshafts in these cars have not been problematic, so it's definitely something on your car.

Unhappy

I keep taking it back to them, but since they can't get the car to make the noise they can't do anything. I get everything serviced when needed so I have no idea why this is happening.

It started doing when I was sitting still, but now it happens when I'm driving.

I def. don't want to keep it if somethings going to go horribly wrong after the warranty is done.

That is not the drive shaft then. Is the car a manual? Maybe it's the motor making a little noise?

^^What he said...perhaps it's the clutch/flywheel bs that everyone hears?

What are you doing when it knocks?

Sadly, it's an automatic.

I'm either going about 40-50mph or slowing down/stopped when it's knocking.

I have no clue! I was taking off at a light and it snapped! Nissan doesn't know how it happened either. There have only been 7, including mine, reported cases of this happening.

Like the noise when you would knock on a door, but only louder? Under me, sometimes towards the front and sometimes from the back.

I'm pretty sure they did.

But it's going back to the shop again this week, so I can double check.

Good idea, u can take a look at the bill also. I have to wonder if they forgot to tighten everything up. Still having a hard time believing your CF driveshaft just snapped under normal driving.

It was crazy when I saw it. She is pretty much 100% stock too. I couldnt believe it was snapped. It was just straight ripped in half.

out of curiosity...how much is a driveshaft from Nissan? lol. You sure it's all together correct/tight and there are no spare pieces of your driveshaft lodged between things?

I would keep this driveshaft cuz that's awesome >.< lol...in a way

A brand new drive shaft is like $900.

Nissan has the drive shaft, I wasn't allowed to keep it.

If it did it when your car was still, it isn't your drive shaft. Drive shaft only moves when the rear wheels move.

It only started happening when the drive shaft broke.

The violent acceleration of a stock 5AT Z is enough to do it.
