Default battery problem not 100% sure

So i started my Z this morning an it didn't want to start i figured its the battery but im not sure. The reason why is when i got the car to turn on the battery volt gauge is okay just above the line beetween 12 and 16 I haven't driven the Z for two days thats not that long so the problem is not the battery drained from no use. i didn;t leave anything turned on headlights doors ext. i looked at the battery an i can see what looks to be a date on it an it says 01 12 02 T Im pretty sure this is a date an pretty sure the battery is done but that battery volt gauge just makes me think i really hope its not something else (like alternator). Well tomorrow i will take it to get tested battery an alternator and will prob buy new battery. This battery now looks to be the stock one that came with the car its bottom is gray/clear and top is black, i didn't buy the car new i bought it in 2009 its a 2003 350z touring. so if that date on the battery is true then its been 8 years this battery has been working so thats about right for the life of a battery. Has anyone here had this problem or maybe something similar like this with the battery volt gauge or is this gauge not a reliable source for a dying battery. Or if anyone still has thier 2003 350z stock battery can you describe how it looks or if it matches my description any info is appreciated.

then it is 95% the battery... possibly ground cable or positive cable... highly unlikely... in my 11 years as a tech Ive seen 1 positive cable bad... and a couple ground cables... pretty noticable though... never on a Z or newer than Y2k nissans

pretty impressive that the battery lasted that long in the cold colorado enviroment... at least the summers must be bitchin to drive in... I only get a sea level to 5k elevation change in about 30 min drive (got a few mountain roads here)

If the battery is that old, it's the battery. Most OEM batteries last about 3 years and that's it. Get a new one.

The battery is 7 years old? Get yourself a new battery for sure.

The voltage will stay about the same regardless of battery condition UNTIL you put a load on it.

if your car makes clicking sounds when you try to start it, it's most likely your battery is dead. most auto zones will test your battery for free, and even recharge it for you.

does anyone know the cold/cranking amps? I tried to charge my battery for 5, then, 10 min. nothing, no juice at all. I heard the clicking sound as well.

My 06 currently has the oem battery. I took it to autozone and they didnt wanna look up the info/specs for my battery. They wanted to know the cold cranking amps.

could someone help me? I dont mind buying a new battery, but if mine is still good then its kinda pointless

Is the battery stamped CCA (cold crank amps)?

If it says JIS (Japanese industrial standard) that is not helpful. I know of no accurate JIS to CCA conversion.
