Default Low Idle car stalls but not when ac is turned on

I have an 04 roadster 6 speed manual transmission. last week my car started going into safe mode sometimes coming out of a complete stop. but when i turned on my air conditioning the problem totally went away. Now im stuck driving with my ac on always. the minute i shut off my ac my car goes into safe mode off a complete stop. what is wrong with my car?

When the air conditioning condenser is ON it will bump idle RPM by several hundred. So its kind of a temporary fix to low idle. Reasons for low idle are numerous. You can try a DIY fix if you have a diagnostic code or take the car to Nissan.

install anything recently? check vac lines.. check everything for leaks.. did u just install a cai? could be your iac or tps check and see if your getting 5V at the sensors output wire... sucks man did you take off your battery cable? doing so will put it back into learn mode n u will have shiddy idle... im not sure why its going into safe mode.. maybe go to a dealer after you checked everything i mentioned and check with the mechanic after he did the tests to see what your problem is.. his scan tool will let you know the issue..

No i have not done anything to this car at all it is fully stock. can you provide me with a post to bump up my idle. i would like to try and fix it myself. if there is a leak in the vac lines where would i check? the dealer is a rip off in my area i don't trust them at all. I do know how to manually get the code using the light but at this point im just driving with my air condition on always.

You need to do the idle relearn process or you can bring it to the dealer and they can do it for you.

If you didnt install anything then I am going to go with my gut feeling on this one... Vacume leak, I would check your PCV hoses and valves.

3-fifty is right if you had installed a CAI of any kind the car has to relearn but normally the idol will come back to normal after driving it around for a day or so.

Honestly though sounds like a vacume leak... check da hoses

Also you might want to check the under part of your intake pipe (the upper half) there is a breather valve and hoses that goes from the intake pipe to the throttle body, you will want to check that to.

actually easy way to check is start the car and listen for any hissing coming from the engine, another way is to get some mild soapy water in a bottle and spray it on the intake manifold if you see bubbles or if the car stalls then the intake sucked up a little water which will stall the car.

pleas note: I dont really recommed the soapy water trick as while it really wont hurt your engine its better to be safe then sorry... but it is the easest way to check for a leak at the intake manifold.

p.s. it is most likely a PCV hose then the intake manifold

Took it to my mechanic. He told me nissan is notorious for having bad grounds. so when the ac was turned on it provided a ground for the pedal sensor. im not sure what he did but he told me he took off all the grounds and regrounded them. now the car seems to be working fine. i can finially drive with no ac on.
