Exclamation Please Help - Code U1000 ECU Bulletin

My Check engine light went on due to improper grounds somewhere on the car. Even though I have the Security+Plus Pre-owned Preferred, which says it covers "All electrical Component, including wire harness repair", I am being told this is not covered.

So when the Service Engine Soon light came on, so did the SLIP and TCS lights. They went off after I turned the car off and on again. However this leads me to believe the improper ground may be on the ABS Ground.

I read also that fixing this ground + the battery (cleaning/securing properly) is the most common solution of this code. I will not pay $400 for a dealer to do this, however I have no idea where the ABS ground is. Can anyone point it out to me/ offer advice on how I should go about fixing. I know how to reset the SEL (through the crazy gas pedal sequence), but I want to first clean some grounds I believe may be throwing the code.

Any help is much appreciated!

It is at the dealer now and they said they had already tried to reset the code. It apparently popped back up. I will try myself when I get it back this afternoon.

Kind of just looking for a diagram showing where the ABS Grounds are located. I have a good feeling that if I can clean/secure them, problem solved.

This code is caused by a CAN communication error or something, but I've heard of it coming up with some bad grounds, which should really still be covered by your warrantee.

If they can't come up with anything you may want to check out this ground among others.

Can you tell me where that Ground Harness is? Not sure where the diagram is referring to. But I see it ties in the TCS which most likely means fixing/cleaning this will solve my issue.

Looks to be behind the dash on the dash support. Should be lots of fun...

Haven't had to do this one before but hopefully won't be too hard to get to. Let us know how it works out.

Same thing just happened to my car, the SES/SLP/TCS lights were on last night on a trip to the grocery store. So I turned back around and parked. Checked it with my scanner the next day and got the U1000 code. Everyone online recommended to check the battery terminals and wiring harness. Luckily, I found one guy online that suggested checking the fuses located next to the battery. I changed out all my old fuses [10A and 15A] and when I restarted the car, all the lights had gone out. It's due for a factory maintenance check this month, so I may mention that to them.
