Default Serpentine belt size for '08 HR?

Anyone know the serp belt size for my '08 6MT? I'm trying to source one of these:

http://www.gatesracing.com/belt.cfm

There are two sizes listed, if you use the Gates site search function, but neither seems correct (much too short) to me. So, if someone can confirm the size, I'll contact Gates and see if they have one which fits. And, of course I'll pass that info on here . . .

Thanks in advance.

Will this help?

I don't think the belt they offer for the later models are racing belts, judging by the price.

Amazon carries both of the Gates part numbers that come up when you search for parts on the Gates site

# High Performance Automotive V-Ribbed Belt — K040372RB
# High Performance Automotive V-Ribbed Belt — K060465RB

but the Amazon site says they don't fit the 2008 350Z. That sorta confirms your feeling that they aren't the right ones.

I found Gates racing belts elsewhere for the earlier 350Zs, but nothing for the '08. I think it's time to call Gates.

Well, I did find the size of the belt - 7 ribs, 0.96" wide, 80.89" long. Contacted Gates directly, and they claim the blue racing belt isn't made in that size.

Looks like B2AutoDesigns (actually local to me) offers the blue "racing" belts for the VQ's, but only the standard Micro-V belt for the HR's. Several other vendors seem to be offering the same items, and since Gates claims they don't make one in that size, that seems to be that. I'm sure there's nothing wrong with the standard belt, though.

Why not just get an OEM belt. Guaranteed to fit

Only because if something better (i.e. more durable, perhaps) was available, I might as well use that instead of OEM. As it turns out, I just ordered a Gates # K070810 from amazon.com for $19.97 shipped, so I'm good with that.

Years ago I would have agreed with you that some aftermarket stuff was better than OEM. But the reliability of the hoses and belts on the Nissans has been excellent. I don't think I've seen or heard anybody complain here of a belt/hose failure.

I'm friends with a Nissan parts manager and a tech at a local dealership and we've discussed this before. Stuff that used to be common replacements years ago hardly ever are a problem in recent years.

I'm sure a big part of it is that Nissan and other manufacturers buy from the same factories that make the name-brand aftermarket stuff.

I wouldn't dispute that at all. The other factor, for me, is that it's about 1.5 hours round-trip to the dealer, and it's just so easy to order something like a belt from amazon and have it sitting on my doorstep the next day. I've got ~38K on my '08 Z now, and it's been 100% reliable, so I've got no complaints about Nissan in that regard. Better than any of the German (i.e. BMW's) cars I've ever owned.
