Default hatch problems I SEARCHED

Earlier today I went to a friends shop to change a tire, I placed the wheel inside my trunk. On my way home or at least thinking I'd be on my way I see the door ajar light on then notice the trunk light on, tried several times but no luck ended up tying it up with a tie strap lying around.

No the wheel wasn't in the way it had enough space, checked the fuses, the key fob works and everything sounds don't know what to do. Any ideas?

please help

I'm confused. You said "tried several times." Tried what? What is the problem here? The trunk won't stay closed, or everything is closed but the ajar light is on?

It sounds like the hatch is going all the way down, but the latch isn't engaging to hold it there.

When putting the wheel in the cargo area, did you accidentally pull the emergency release?

exactly the hatch goes all the way but the latch doesnt engage its like if something was in the way blocking it from closing completely i removed the rear cover to check for a lose wire or cable but everything seems in order, and nope never touched the emergency release,

^^ had that happen to me once on a Z32, was replacing some bulbs in the rear and the hatch came down on my freakin head, busted my lip when the hatch slammed my face down onto the weatherstrip section of the car.

OP, is there no adjustment at that latch at all? Like a hood latch?

well fixed it took a few minutes to swap the old with the new one. unbolted it and used the same cable release system that the car came with, so i didnt have to re-route the new cable.
