Just wanted to post some pics up of the different size filters thats can be used on 350z's. Im sure its been covered but since i was doing an oil change i thought why not post up pics. Anyways, I figured a Nissan Pathfinder with the same VQ motor uses larger oil filters so why not use larger oil filters for our 350z too.. Also, interesting to note that for a pathfinder even though engine size doesn't change between years 02-04 the oil filter numbers do but either will work...
i also gutted the old HP1008 smaller filter so the element can be exposed.
obviously the bigger HP1010 just has a larger element that should help collect more impurities in the oil.. so i honestly dont see a downside to using the larger filter...

Yeah I've been doing this for 2 years no since I do extended drain interval. I use wix filter though.

I always use the larger filter - no issues since my '08 was new 39K miles ago. The same option exists with 3 Alfa's I own, and I use the larger filters on them, too, for ~30 years with no issues. FWIW, I like the Purolator Pure One filters.
