I've been hearing this loud rattling, clicking, grinding noise from the undercarriage of my Z for 3 months now. Its weird because there isn't a specific place I can point to where the noise is coming from. It varies, goes from front below the engine and in or by the transmission to back to rear axles( most of the time its in the front). It is always present for about a second when I lunch slowly from 1st, and any little bump I hit on the road the noise is back, I can also hear it some times very loudly on a wide left turn. I have no idea what this can be, I checked both wheels at the front and every thing looks solid. any idea? speculations? Would really appreciate this, thanks fellow Z owners.
sorry for vague description. Its this grinding noise, most of the time it sounds like its coming from underneath the engine or in or underneath the transmission. It is present when I lunch the car from first, and i can always hear it when on speed bumps, some times its very loud and I can feel it.

Aftermarket flywheel? Possibly even a basic dual mass flywheel that is loud. Does it sound like this...

Well, if it were a knocking sound from the rear I would be looking at your diff bushing. The fact that the noise travels around the car is rather odd. I would suggest having a look under there to make sure you didn't run anything over. Have a look at the rear sub frame where the stud from the diff cover goes through and see if there is fluid coming out of the bushing.
Other than that, try your best to find out when the noise is the worst and get a better idea of where it is coming from. Diagnosing noises like this without actually seeing the car is pretty tough so more info will give you a better chance at getting some reasonable advice.
