i don't know if this has happened to anyone but my tachometer just stopped working this morning on the way to work! i was like wtf! if at least the mileage stopped going up i woudn't complain since people do that crap on purpose . . . but the freakin' miles kept going up!

but then at a random point it started working again . . . so i don't know what i should do. i know if i take it to a dealer, it's gonna work when they drive it and then they won't fix it and i'll waste my lunch hour . . . this is hella annoying!

any suggestions?

 

I would take it to the dealer. Maybe the ECU stored an error code. Hopefully this is not a symptom of a larger problem.

 

What happened with the tachometer? Mine did this this morning--and I have less that 500 miles on the car.

 

Mine did it the other day too. I was doing some light city driving and looked down, my needle was stuck at 2,000rpm. The next green light I revved it a little, tryin to get the needle to "unstick" but nothing. Then after a few more stop & go's the needle just started moving again.

I have only 450 miles.

BTW I have an 04 Touring 6M, Build date is Dec 03 I think.

 

I just had the same exact problem happen this past Friday. Strangest thing...I was driving and the tach got stuck at around 1000 - 2000 rpm twice during a 29 mile commute home from work. It started working again & after driving all around LA over the weekend, I didn't see the problem happen again. I figured that if I saw it resurface over the weekend, I would take it over to the dealership, but that hasn't happened. Hopefully it won't happen again...

Tachometer got stuck again yesterday...I'm taking the car in to have the dealer check out the pinholes in my top tomorrow, so I'll be mentioning this as well. Has anyone else mentioned this to a dealer? Thanks!
