Default Rain/Water hitting Body Control Module

Ok guys, this has been almost a 2 year episode of this problem happening...

Well whenever it is dry, my car is perfectly fine... but as soon as rain starts to pour, within hours of being drenched by rain, my windows start to act up, as in, they drop like half an inch from being fully closed, and progress more and more, exposing me to the rain on both windows and my dome light would be somewhat lit, but very dim to say, while I drive..

So obviously, I took it in to the dealership to get repair, thought it was a bad motor on both sides or some bad solenoid (I have an 03)... so eventually with every fix, it would happen again, and every time I brought it in, they would change a part of the window (I practically have brand new set of electric windows lol)...

When this stumped the dealership the last time in May, they started to question the BCM, but before they could test it, they wanted to charge me $800 for an electrical systems test (yeah right, I'm not gonna pay for something you can't figure out..) The next thing you know it stopped raining and it was working fine again... til now..

Now its down pouring in So Cal and I have a towel on both sides stuck to the cracks in the windows...

One thing I forgot to mention, I did get into an accident in 08 on my drivers side front corner panel (where apparently the BCM is) and the dealership says the auto body place who fixed it, didn't correctly fix it. Do you guys think this is true? or is the dealership just clueless and just wants to blame someone? What do you guys think is setting off my windows and dome light? Im hoping someone has had a similar experience like this.. any info would be appreciated.

put paper towels over your bcm, next time it rains grab them and see if their wet. It would benefit you to fix this before something shorts and your in a lot more trouble.

I can confirm your problem. Twice over the years, after really bad rains I've had some BCM related issues (door locks, alarm). Apparently water is able to inflitrate from outside into the area behind the kick panel. The good thing is that there was no permanant damage or problem. The next day after seeing my problems, it went away because the water had dried up.

jiggy: sounds like a good idea, thanks!

dave: exactly thats how it is after it rains, as soon as the rains stop and it dries, everything is ok... Is there an opening that we could block or weather proof some how? I wish I had like a diagram of how its structured inside, and I know I should just take it apart and figure it out that way, but I'm more of a "plan ahead then do"-type of guy when it comes to fixing things..

I've had the kick panel off but never really tried to find the source of the leak. It could be something up around the windshield area that water is running down, or something where two body panels meet or any number of other places down there.

I wish there was a diagram where I could figure or atleast think of a possible area of leakage :/ Thanks though dave.. Merry Christmas Bro
