Default Positioning the Jack Stand

Hi guys, so ive been lifting up my car for regular maintenance for quite a while now and never thought it was a problem until now. Basically, i've placed the jack stands inside the "pinch weld" (click for image) and now have bent it a little. And i know that without the jack stand adapter, putting a U shaped jack stand (click for image) will bend the "pinch weld"....

So my question is, I bought a flatter U shaped jack stands (click for image) and would like to know if i can put something in between that and the car such as rags so i can avoid further damaging it?

Also, what do you guys think of the jack stand point inside the pinch welds as shown below? This place is still my best bet since i don't have the jack stand adapter...

service manual.... Should give you what to do on jack points. Also, if you go to the suspension 101 Jason has a picture with like adapter plates you can do for the "pitch weld".

What you show in the pic is exactly where and how I've always done it.

This is to answer your PM sir. This is where I place my stands. In the front, they get placed perpendicular to the undercarriage beams. In the rear, I place them under half of the side of that aluminum cup that holds the spring. I also make sure to leave a jack under the car as a safety...

I think it might have the first time for which I shed a tear, but since I'm not showing the car or anything, I don't really care. Only thing to watch out for is rust if you break through the undercoat.

Let me know if you find a good adaptor though...I'd like to pick up a few.

I've used Vo's front spots as well, if my normal location is in the way the work.
