Default Electric component snapped off from alternator

hey guys,

i just installed a oil temp sensor and noticed that an electric component has snapped off from the alternator.

does anyone know what this piece does and if it is important enought to fix?

it is normally mounted to the alternator with the bolt next to my ring finger.

I have a alarm system but I don't know much about it. Think it was installed by nissan when the car came from the factory.

yep, its a noise filter that helps prevent alternator whine in your radio I believe...

if there is enough metal there you could try pinching it back between that bolt..
