I've cleaned the MAF too; I was also thinking it may be a memory problem, the fact that i'm able to successfully do the idle relearn but the TB or ecu forgets after the car shuts down points to a memory problem. I don't have to re-set the time or radio, the battery should be good.

Ok, im trying not to be optimistic but last night I thought about how interesting it was that on deceleration, say approaching a red light and cruising in third, the rpms drop down normally to about 700 rpm.
It's only when you clutch in or neutral that people with p0507 noticed an elevated idle that hovers at 1500 then drops to 1000.
So because of how i noticed
That an in gear de-acceleration the car was able to cruise at 700 rpm, i decided to hit the brakes and stall the car while in gear.
I just did it 30 min ago as i approach a red light. In third gear i came to a red, normally i would clutch in at around 1100 rpm and put her in neutral.
Not this time. Hit the brakes hard at 5mph, careful the car bucks. Waited two secs, started right up. Noticed the idle was better. Drove around more and after 5 min idle was normalized.
Ambient temp 60 deg. Ill repost later after i con't to tool around

Actually, coming to the red i braked normally untill the car stalled, i did slam on the brakes as the car bucked forward. I didnt think it would bolt forward with so much force so beware of pedestrians an or the soccer mom in front

correct that my 3rd gear theory failed. Last night the ses light came on and idle remained at 1200, however today after driving for about 40 min the idle normalized at 700 but after the car for about 1hr it went back to 1200.
let me know about unplugging the ecu.
I may just purchase a refurb tb

it didn't work, i couldnt get the harness off my ecu (didn't know how) so i wasn't able to unplug it, however, i did unplug both terminals on my battery as well as left my TB unplugged and i read somewhere you can turn the lights on while the battery is unplugged to help drain out all the capacitors, so i did that as well. this morning, my sequence was, turned off the lights, plugged in the TB, connect positive battery terminal, connect negative terminal.
did the:
accelerator pedal release position learning;
throttle valve closed position learning;
idle air volumn relearn.
started the car, idle was @ ~1500rpm because of the cold start (not sure if this would affect the relearn process)
idle eventually went down to ~500rpm once it was warmed up and at optimal temperature.
i drove the car around, went to buy coffee and left the engine running, the idle was still within spec ~500rpm with no hiccups, drove to work, turn the car off, turned it back to check, idle went back up to ~1k rpm -piece of xhit
i think i may just suck it up and get a new TB. however, i'm still not completely convinced it's a bad TB.

I too am in this same boat, it all started when I took the upper plenum off last winter to polish it. I cannot remember if i disconnected battery before disconnecting MAF. I am pretty sure I would have. Ever since putting it back together I have had high idle. I have done relearn no help. The weird thing with mine though is sometimes i get in the car and the CEL is off. It might be off for two days and then it will come back on, I read the code and it says high idle. It will be on for a week or so. Then it goes off for a day or two and then comes on for a week or so, back off. I don't know what the hell is going on. I have read on here from many people though that replacing TB did no help. I highly doubt it is an ECU problem. It almost seems like a bug in the firmware for the ECU. I have read way to many people having this same problem, and have seen no fixes.

yeah, i'm about to take it into the dealer to get it diagnosed. but knowing the way dealers are and how lazy they are, they'll just start recommending replacing parts right off the bat. its faster for them, "flagging hours"
