So I have a 2004 Nissan 350z I thought what I had was a rod knock so I pulled the engine and changed the rod bearings. The flywheel is installed correctly and I keep getting codes for the cam bank sensors. I have read that it could be the CPS but I have changed it. I have very poor acceleration now and the codes keep coming back. Any advice? The oil is also not low.

Well if anyone else is having this problem i justgot mine fixed. What i figured out is that i needed to do a complete re learn. ecu throttle and the idel relearn.

 

Done with a Nissan scan tool only I assume..

 

Umm no it wasnt. i did the in car one. But then it came back on. The only other thing i did different was used 5w30 which i normaly use 10w40. I just changed the oil about an hour ago. Hoping this will fix it. It just seems like the exhaust is plugged. I dont know if anyone else knows the sound of a z starting. The nice crisp tone it puts out then idels down. Mine doesnt even do that anymore. If the light does make its way back on im just giving up and taking it to the nissan garage . hope they dont rape me too bad. Any help or any ideas from anyone would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to everyone that can help.

 

Dude I wish you the best but you had the whole engine apart. I doubt Nissan will want to even get involved with it at this point but who knows.

 

Nah I only had the oil Pan off. And the Plentum. So idk

Yeah I pulled the whole enine out but I didn't have it apart completely. I took nothing major off the engine.

 

How about check out the parts the code is pointing to? Check the cam and crank sensors with an ohm meter and compare them to what they should be. Make sure you didn't fukc up any wires in the harness while pulling the motor, check your connectors. Was this code there before you did anything or just the rod knock noise? If it wasn't there before then it was something you did.
